Aerosmith, J. Geils Band to Play Fenway Park on Aug. 14
by Evan Brunell on Apr 7, 2010 10:12:56 PM
During Wednesday's Red Sox-Yankees game, the Red Sox announced that Aerosmith and the J. Geils Band will perform at Fenway Park on Sunday, August 14 -- the first time ever both bands will perform on stage together.
The concert will begin at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m.
Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and Peter Wolf representing the J. Geils Band appeared in the booth alongside Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo in the bottom of the fourth to announce the event.
Wolf noted that he recently released a solo album titled Midnight Souvenirs, but he will appear at Fenway alongside his J. Geils bandmates. "We're going to have a good time," the lead vocalist said.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m. online at livenation.com and by phone at (800) 514-3849. Tickets are also available for purchase Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre Box office. Ticket prices start at $55.
The J. Geils Band was formed in 1967 and hails from Worcester, Mass. The band has broken up several times. Most recently on Jan. 23, Wolf said that the band was basically finished.
Looks like the J. Geils Band will live to see another concert after all.
Aerosmith was originally formed in Boston in 1970 and has since become one of the most successful and influential rock bands in music.
Tyler, Aerosmith's lead singer, recently performed "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch of the Red Sox' home opener Sunday, along with his daughter Chelsea.
"It was a moment to be reckoned with," crowed Tyler.
Another moment to be reckoned with will be on Aug. 14, when the two iconic bands team up for a performance to be remembered.
"If it's rock and roll, we've got it," Wolf said.

Steven Tyler and Peter Wolf at Fenway tonight
Steven Tyler and Peter Wolf are at the Sox game tonight and announced - finally - that Aerosmith and the J. Geils Band will indeed play at Fenway Park this summer. (The pair arrived at the ballpark in a limo after a dinner at Abe & Louie's.) Season ticket holders will get first dibs on tickets, which will range in price from $55 to $175. (For the rest of you, tickets go on sale April 17 at LiveNation.com.) The show is Aug. 14, but we're told a second concert could be added Aug. 13 if ticket sales are brisk. Forget all the drama of the past year, Tyler told us that Aerosmith is up to its old tricks. "We're walking, talking, and taking solid foods," he said. "I had a little accident when I fell off the stage at Sturgis, but I'm feeling good and I'm ready to kick some (expletive.)"

NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- Aerosmith says it will perform with fellow Boston rockers The J. Geils Band at Fenway Park this summer.
Scheduled for Aug. 14, this marks the first time the acts will collaborate on stage.
The announcement of the "Double Play" event was made by Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler and J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf during the Red Sox/Yankees game Wednesday night.
"Sox fans look out! You've got a grand slam with Aerosmith and J. Geils and we're going to rock it over the Green Monster," Tyler told the crowd.
Tyler previously performed "God Bless America" at Fenway Park at last Sunday's Red Sox/Yankees game.
"When I heard that Aerosmith would be playing Fenway Park this summer, naturally I freaked out. Then I heard it was going to be with The J. Geils Band," Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry said in a statement. "I knew that this is an event that I, like all hard core Bostonians, have been waiting for for 40 years. There have been other shows at Fenway Park, but this one is going to leave them all behind because it's going to rock so hard the Green Monster will crack and they will have to keep the Citgo sign together with duct tape and glue.
Steven looked really good at the game last night.
Tan and healthy. God, please let it be. _________________ WAY TO GO STEVEN...
